The practical basics for downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia in one place: where the public restrooms are, when the visitor centers are open, how to get here, where to charge a car and who to call. Everything was checked on October 17, 2026.
Public restrooms
The most dependable public restrooms downtown are at the Downtown Blue Ridge Visitor Center, 282 West Main Street: two restrooms, open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s about 2 minutes on foot from the depot (measured along OpenStreetMap streets at about 3 mph), about 4 minutes from the East Main 3-hour spaces and about 3 from the Trackside Station garage.
There’s also a restroom building in the Downtown City Park near the playground, about 5 minutes from the depot. OpenStreetMap tags it public and wheelchair-accessible, and no hours are published. The March 2022 downtown map also shows restroom symbols at the City lot by Mountain Street, beside the depot and at City Hall. That map is more than four years old, so check when you get there.
Riding the train? It has 12 bathrooms and two baby-changing stations, per the Blue Ridge Railway. More on the ride is at a train day from downtown.
Visitor centers
- Downtown Visitor Center, 282 West Main Street: every day 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with free Wi-Fi and seating. The Chamber says it’s designed to work without staff, so don’t count on someone being at the desk. The Chamber’s 1.2-mile Downtown Walking Trail starts here.
- The Chamber’s main Visitor Center, 152 Orvin Lance Drive, Suite A, off Hwy 515 (turn right at CVS, then take the first left after South State Bank): Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; 706-632-5680 (Fannin County Chamber).
- McCaysville Visitor Center, on the Toccoa River near the state line, where the train lays over: Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday noon to 4 p.m. The Chamber gives the address as 53 North Market Street, while the September 2026 walking map says 53 East Market Street.
Getting here
From Atlanta, the Chamber’s directions are I-75 north to I-575, which becomes the Georgia Mountain Parkway (Hwy 515), then 55 miles on to Blue Ridge. The Chamber puts Blue Ridge about 90 miles north of Atlanta via I-575. None of our sources publishes a drive time, so we don’t give one. For the depot, the railway says to put 241 Depot St., Blue Ridge, GA 30513 into your GPS.
Downtown itself is laid out along the railroad: East Main Street and West Main Street run on either side of the tracks, with the depot and the Downtown City Park between them and Mountain, Messer, Carter, Depot and Church streets crossing. Where to leave the car is on the parking page.
Time zone
The railway lists its ticket office hours in Eastern time (9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week), so set your plans to Eastern time.

EV charging
The federal station locator lists two public EV charging sites within 2 miles of downtown, both Level 2 (none DC fast), and no others within 5 miles. (AFDC (U.S. DOE), checked Oct 17, 2026)
Those two are the Hampton Inn at 50 West Main Street (four Level 2 J1772 ports on AmpUp, paid by credit card) and the Blue Ridge Inn Bed and Breakfast at 477 West First Street (one free Tesla Destination charger, Teslas only). The Chamber notes there are limited charging stations in the area and invites drivers to call 706-632-5680.
Police, medical care and City Hall
- Emergencies: dial 911.
- Non-emergency law enforcement: the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, 645 West First Street, says to call 706-632-2043. The City’s own listings disagree with each other: a February 2025 City page gave 706-632-2041 as the police non-emergency number, and a November 2024 City page listed 706-632-6022 or 706-632-2043. We give the Sheriff’s number because it’s the one confirmed on a live page. The City listed its police department at 301 Church Street in February 2025.
- Medical: Blue Ridge Medical Center, 2855 Old Highway 5 North, (706) 632-3711, has an emergency room open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (Blue Ridge Medical Center). Its BRMG Walk-In Clinic at 101 Riverstone Vista, Suite 111 (706-946-4200) is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., no appointment needed.
- Blue Ridge City Hall: 480 West First Street, (706) 632-2091, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (City of Blue Ridge).
The library
The Fannin County Public Library is at 2290 East 1st Street, outside the downtown walking area: Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., closed Sunday; 706-632-5263.
With the basics sorted, the day planner builds a walk from posted hours, and the events calendar shows what’s on.
